Sean P. John E. Byrnes has been practicing exclusively in the area of family law since 1996.  He practices in all of the northern Virginia circuit courts and juvenile and domestic relations district courts as well as the Virginia Court of Appeals. While most matters are amicably resolved thorough negotiation or mediation, John has extensive litigation experience.

During his career, John’s practice has covered virtually every aspect of family law, from: complex equitable distribution matters involving business valuations and detailed tracing issues; forensic accounting considerations for determining a party’s income; intricate custody concerns dealing with non-parental rights, international legal considerations, and abuse claims; as well as unique family law issues such as litigating the validity of divorces obtained in foreign countries.  Over his career, John has identified an array of talented expert witnesses to assist his clients on various issues. Learn more about John.

Maureen E. Danker is a long-time resident of Northern Virginia and a 1997 graduate of Virginia Tech (B.A., Sociology).  She earned her Juris Doctorate from Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, Delaware, in May of 2000.Maureen’s practice of law has solely focused on domestic relations since April 2002.   Throughout her career, she has counselled and assisted hundreds of clients, helping them navigate the complexities involved with divorce, custody, visitation, alimony, child support, asset valuation, business valuation, whether through settlement negotiation, mediation, or litigation.  She has also drafted numerous pre-marital agreements.

Maureen zealously represents her clients in a skillful, efficient and cost-effective manner.  Many of her client’s objectives are obtained through settlement negotiations or mediation, which generally provide the most effective means for resolving family law matters.  However, under certain circumstances, litigation is the only means for a resolution, and Maureen is an experienced litigator in all aspects of family law matters. Learn more about Maureen.

Since entering private practice in August of 2006, Ann N. Luu has focused exclusively on family, and she has appeared in all of the circuit court and juvenile and domestic relations district courts in northern Virginia.  During her career, Ann has represented a variety of clients and handled a wide variety of legal issues, from complex equitable distribution matters, to challenging custody disputes, to protective orders.  Ann has also successfully negotiated many settlements.

Before entering private practice, Ann completed a two-year clerkship with the Honorable Richard B. Potter, then Chief Judge, of the Prince William County Circuit Court.  During her clerkship, Ann also assisted the Prince William County Bar Association in completely revising its “Domestic Relations Practice Guidelines” a publication designed to assist attorneys in navigating the court system. Laura M. O'Brien has been practicing law since October 2010, and she has exclusively practiced in the area of family law.  Her entire law career has been spent with the attorneys of Kelly Byrnes & Danker, PLLC.

Laura received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, in May 2003, where she graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.  Laura earned her law degree cum laude from George Mason University School of Law in May 2010, where she served on the Board of Editors of the George Mason Law Review and was chosen as a Writing Fellow, teaching first-year law students within the school's esteemed Legal Research, Writing, and Analysis program.
